*The Power Box 5 is a metal box with an LCD (liquid crystal display) window on the top panel which indicates the current mode of operation (instant, latching or timer mode).
*Underneath the LCD window are three membrane keys, which are pressed to adjust the operating mode and activate the tremor setting.
The appliance plugs into the top of the box and the two switch jacks are located at the side.
*It allows people who are unable to use conventional buttons on an appliance to operate them independently via a single switch.
Operating Modes
The Power Box has four different operating modes:
Instant or Momentary: The device is only on while the switch is held down. Often used to teach cause - effect, or with momentary appliances such as a blender or milk shake mixer.
Latching: Press once for on, press again for off. Used for functional control of appliances and lights, especially if the appliance is to remain on for a while.
Latching - Dual Switch: Press one switch for on, and a second for off. This mode can help reinforce the difference between 'on' and 'off'.
Timer: The device stays on for a set period. This easy to set timer can range from one second to nine hours. The time remaining is displayed as the timer counts down.
The tremor setting can be adjusted to limit accidental activations.
All adjustments to the operation of the Power Box 5 can be made using the membrane keys (buttons) on the top of the box.
A second switch input provides an instant Off control.
A menu is scanned on the LCD window, from which selections are made.
Programming
*No programming is required.
*The appliance may be turned on or off using this device.
Power Source
*A three pin plug attaches to mains power outlet.
*The Power Box 5 will control appliances that consume up to 2400 watts of power (same as a standard power outlet).
External Switch Connection
Any special accessibility switch can be plugged into the Power Box and it can be used to operate mains powered appliances. The supplier has a large range of switches that may be suitable.
Considerations for Use
*The three different modes of switch operation available allow selection of the mode most suited to the user.
*Using the adjustable tremor setting may help to block out unintentional switch presses.

Safety
The safety plug will switch off the Power Box and any equipment connected to it in a fraction of a second if unbalanced electrical currents are detected.
Note:The PowerBox operates by switching the 240V supply to the appliance to be controlled. Some modern equipment is not suitable for control by this method. To test that the appliance is suitable, turn the appliance power switch on if there is one, plug it directly into the wall socket and turn the power point switch on. If correct operation follows then the appliance will work with the PowerBox.
