More Details
*Pads conform to body shape and do not bottom out. They dissipate body heat and will not absorb urine odours.
*The gel will not leak if the pad is punctured but the puncture should be
repaired.
*Pads are heavy to lift.
*Can be custom made to a specified size on request. May take 5-6 weeks.
*The pad should be rolled for transporting.
Attachment:
The three larger size pads ie. Models 6301, 6302 and 6303, are available with an Anchoring Hitch to hold the pad in position on the bed when the head or foot sections of the bed are elevated. The hook & loop (velcro?) straps are threaded through the bed frame to secure the pad to the mattress.
Repairs
Use pad repair kit from supplier or Opsite (Smith & Nephew) or Tegadem.
Cleaning
Can be cleaned with water, disinfectant and liquid bleach. Don't use alcohol which may harden the surface.
Cover
A knit cover is available for model no 6100.
Storage
Store pads flat or rolled. Before rolling turn pad over so
underside faces upwards. This prevents the upper side from creasing.
NOTE: Re: use of an electric blanket / heating pad under the gel pad.
Action Products advised that the heating pad be placed under the pad and pre-warm it. You must be extremely careful that the pad does not get too hot or develop hot spots as this will carry through the Akton pad and the patient could get burned. They should not take it above 103F as this could cause burns to the patient. If the patient has no feeling then someone must check the patient at all times to prevent burns caused by the heating pad. The Action pad merely will transfer the heat as the heating pad produces it.
Follow the manufacturer's directions when using a heating pad / electric blanket.
