Short Description
A foam heel and foot support for use in bed. It helps to prevent footdrop. A channel prevents pressure on the heels. The support is convoluted under the calf section and extends beyond the knees. Anti rotation foot straps are available. The support has a removable, washable cover.
Method Of Use
Manufacturer's guidelines
Before using, the two side struts should be held in position by the hook and loop straps, or undone for storage.
When the patient is lying in the supine position, the feet should be resting on the foot drop rest. As the sheets and bed clothes will be resting on top of the foot drop rest, this will stop extra pressure on the feet to help prevent foot drop and rotation of the feet. If the feet are rotating, the manufacturers recommends the Anti-Rotation Foot Strap that can be fitted onto the Heel and Foot Drop Bed Support. These soft elasticised straps are easy to use and can be fitted to individual needs.
When putting the Heel and Foot Drop Bed Support on the bed it can normally be resting against the bed's foot board, or if used with a very short person, a pillow can be placed between the Heel and Foot Drop Bed Support and the foot board. Another method of securing the Heel and Foot Drop Bed Support is to tuck the top sheet underneath it or tie a ribbon from the two side loops to the bed frame.
