Factors To Consider
User Needs
* The needs of the person using the mounted device will be an aspect in determining the features of the Mounting System, for example, the type and frequency of transferring, transporting the wheelchair and it's occupant and the need to use tilting of the seat base.
Wheelchair Considerations
* Heavier wheelchairs, like power wheelchairs, can carry more weight and provide a more stable mounting base. The size, type, shape and material of the wheelchair frame or seat base can be important in determining how the Mount System is attached
Device to be Mounted
* Some devices are less suitable to be mounted or may require other parts to ensure stability. Check there is an appropriate adapter plate for your device.
Installation
* Attaching the Mount Kit so that it sits outside the existing footprint of the wheelchair increases the risk of damage to the wheelchair, mounted device and/or the Mount Kit or even injury to the wheelchair occupant.
* Attaching the Mount Kit to removable items like an armrest or footplates increases the risk of the Mount Kit and the mounted device becoming detached from the wheelchair and causing damage or injury
* Avoid interfering with wheelchair safety, structural integrity, vehicle tie downs and handbrakes etc
Accessories
* Also consider additional parts that will assist the attachment process, in avoiding inappropriate attachment or improving device positioning
Manuals and Support
* Consult the supplier or manufacturer's website for more information of for installation tips
Maintenance
* Regularly check all bolts and clamps for correct tightness
