Speed or Rate Enhancement Software can make a difference to the amount of time and effort needed to produce a document. It increases the speed of typing by reducing the number of keystrokes required. It encompasses expansion of abbreviations (eg."ASAP" becomes "as soon as possible"), word completion and word prediction.
Co:Writer is a memory resident word prediction software program for the Macintosh computer which runs with other standard software programs such as word processing. Word prediction is based on subject-verb agreement, phrases, names, grammar rules, word relationships, frequency of use, recency of use, redundancy and user preferences.
SayIT is an Australian software package to assist users who have lost the power of speech and/or lack sufficient dexterity in their upper body to operate a personal computer. SayIT provides high quality speech output and also offers an alternative to the traditional keyboard and mouse thereby enabling a user to access any program on a personal computer using just a single switch.
