Demonstrating AT at IRSA

April 20, 2011

@magic AT Database IRSA is the Independent Rehabilitation Suppliers Association. The Daily Living Expo provided a great opportunity for health professionals, person with disabilities, carers and public to see a wide variety of equipment and suppliers over two days in May.
Our Infoline Team brought examples of Assistive Technology (AT) to demonstrate to visitors, also showing them our AT Database @magic, interactive web tools, educational videos, information on AT products and services for communication and everyday living. ILC is very glad to bring AT awareness and take part in this annual event.

 

New Name - Cerebral Palsy Alliance

February 9, 2011

On 8 February 2011, the Spastic Centre has changed it's name to the Cerebral Palsy Alliance.
The organisation was founded in 1945 by a concerned group of 25 parents of children with cerebral palsy, led by Neil and Audrie McLeod.
It has been supporting people with cerebral palsy in NSW and the ACT; by offering physiotherapy, speech pathology, occupational therapy, equipment clinics and support groups, as well as programs to help youngsters in making the transition to school.
The new name was chosen with the aim of achieving a stronger profile, clarity of purpose and an unambiguous focus on cerebral palsy.

Health alert - Consumer level recall of Mini Crosser-Cyclone DX mobility scooters

January 31, 2011

The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) advises that Mini Crosser-Cyclone DX, 3- and 4-wheel mobility scooters, Models 130T & 140T, manufactured before January 2007, are being recalled.
The recall is taking place after the controllers on these models spontaneously ignited due to a faulty controller setting.

The Independent Living Centre NSW, in collaboration with the Telstra Foundation, is presenting a Mini-expo for people with complex communication needs (CCN).
The cost is FREE for people with CCN and one family member/ unpaid carer. Others (e.g. therapists, teachers, paid carers) are welcome to attend at a cost of $25pp.
