Piaf (Pictures in a Flash) is a machine which creates tactile graphics (eg maps) by using heat sensitive (capsule) paper. A black and white print (either a drawing or laser print) is photocopied onto capsule paper and exposed to a high temperature using the machine. This causes the black areas to be raised (higher than areas shaded in grey).
