Search Tips

Keep it simple:If you're looking for a particular product, just enter whatever comes to mind when you think about that product.

You can also search with keywords that are more concept or theme-based e.g 'hygiene' or 'communication'.

Because the search engine will try and match your keywords with any words, that are either in the title or description of the products a search such as 'hygiene' will generally return results that are related to hygiene.

Describe what you need with as few keywords as possible: Every word that you type into the search box matters. Since all words in the search box will be used, each additional word will limit the amount of results. This is OK if you know exactly what you're looking for, but if you are unsure it's better to start with fewer keywords.

The main advantage to starting with fewer keywords is that, if you don't get what you need or expected, the results will likely give you a good indication of what additional words are needed to refine your results on the next search.

If you're not exactly sure what you're looking for, try browsing instead. Browsing the products will give you an indication of what you should be looking for, and also may help give clues as to what type of keywords will generate more results.

Sorting Your Results

To sort your results click the 'Sort By' drop down box located in the top right hand corner of the results area. You can sort the items in order of 'price', alphabetically or by 'relevancy'. The items are by default sorted by 'relevancy' which means that those that are more relevant to your search keywords will appear first. This means that items on the last page of the search results are less relevant than those on the first page.

How do I change the way I view products?

There are two different ways you can view your search results - 'Grid' or 'List' view. 'Grid' view is the default display style, and gives you larger images and less details about the product in a grid organisation. This is handy if you like to quickly skim/scan over large amounts of results, and looking at a larger image is important to helping you find what you are looking for. 'List' view displays the results in

How do I view more results?

To view more results, simply click on the pagination links located in the top right hand side of the search results. You can skip forward or backwards to any page within five pages of the current page. Only searches containing more than 12 results will be spread across more than a single page.

How can I narrow down my search results?

You can refine your results by using any of the filters located on the left hand side of your search results. You have the option of refining by category, user, features, specifications and supplier distance. The filters let you find products that are more suitable for you clients needs.

Refining by Category

Use the category filter when you are looking for a specific type of product. For example, if you were looking for a powered wheelchair, you can narrow down your search results to only display wheelchairs that are powered.

If you have searched for 'wheelchairs', the search will return any results related to your keyword of 'Wheelchairs'. This could include wheelchairs, wheelchair cushions, wheelchair ramps etc. If you were after a particular type of wheelchair, you can use the filters to only display results that are wheelchairs. Clicking the link 'wheelchair', will refine you results and also give you an option to refine your results further. You will see that you now have a choice to refine your results to display wheelchairs that are 'powered' or 'manual'. Depending on the type of product, you may or may not have an option to refine further.

Refining by User

Use the 'refine by user' filter to narrow down your search results to display products that are suitable for a particular type of user. For example, if you were looking for a mobile hoist that was more suited to bariatric users, you can use the user filter to display only those hoists designed for this purpose e.g they would have sufficient load capacity.

Refining by Features

Use the features filter to narrow down your search results to display products that have certain characteristics. Once you have filtered your search results to display products of a specific type, you will notice that there is an option to narrow down your search results so that only those with specific features display. For example, if you were looking for a mobile hoist, that was portable, and also dismantled you can click on the checkboxes and press 'update' and the search results will update.

Refining by Specifications

You can use the 'specifications' filter to narrow down your results that satisfy a certain specifications requirement. These will appear only after you have narrowed down your results to a specific type of product e.g Mobile Hoist using the category filter. What appears in the specifications filter is based on the results. If your search results contain only mobile hoists, you will notice that the specifications that are showing are relevant to mobile hoists e.g load capacity, height, base width etc.

For example, if you were looking for a mobile hoist that has a minimum load capacity requirement of 150kg, you could use the 'Load Capacity' filter. To do this you would click 'Load Capacity', and select 'greater than' and type in the desired amount e.g '150' in the text box. You will notice that the units used will always be displayed next to the text box e.g mm, kg etc. You can apply as many of these as you like.

Please note: In cases where the ILC NSW doesn't have complete item specifications information, the products will not be affected by this filter. You will see that these items appear slightly faded in the search results.

Refining by Supplier Distance

You can use the 'supplier distance' filter to narrow down your search results to only display items that have suppliers within a certain distance of a specified location. For example, if your client lived in Tamworth and it was not feasible for them to travel long distances, you can use the supplier distance filter to only display products that have suppliers within for example, 10km of Tamworth. To do this you select a distance from the drop down box, and then either enter the name of the suburb e.g 'Tamworth' or the postal code of the suburb e.g '2340' in the textbox.
