Vitalcall Personal Response Emergency Alarm System

A Personal Alarm Call System that is externally monitored. It consists of a water resistant pendant which is worn around their neck at all times, even in the shower. A "receiver"unit sits with the phone and connects to the phone line. In an emergency, a press of the VitalCall pendant alerts the Response Centre which is staffed 24 hours / day, 7 days per week.

Transmitter
Body worn transmitter as a brooch, necklace or wrist pendant.

Features
* Water resistant,can also be worn in the shower
* Hands free facility-able to hang up and answer calls from pendant
* Activation range 50-80 metres

Receiver
Is an additional unit located beneath, or adjacent to telephone. Both activation and cancellation of the alarm can be performed from the unit by pressing the nominated buttons.

* Speakerphone range for voice to voice contact is 5-10 metres
* Are You Up Function - the unit has a built in motion sensor that can detect if no movement has taken place within a set time. This function is not suitable where pets live in the home.
* The unit has up to five programmable reminders to prompt taking medication or blood glucose testing.
* It has a temperature and time announcement.

Monitoring Options
Call Centre Monitoring - system dials the nominated professional 24 hr response centre that can be staffed by health professionals or security personnel.

* Short term and long term rental of the unit is available from Personal Alarm Call Service providers.
* Ongoing monitoring fees applied to those systems monitored by a 24hr call centre.
* System appropriate for home and residential care facilities.

Factors To Consider

Subsidised Funding
Personal Call Alarm Systems and monitoring can be funded by the Department of Veterans Affairs ( for eligible clientele. An Occupational Therapy assessment is required and the individual must meet the DVA eligibility criteria.
