The advantage of clothes lines, in general, is that sun and wind dry your clothes; this method is cheap and environmentally friendly and does not wear out clothes as quickly as clothes dryers. The disadvantage of clothes lines, is that they take up space either inside or outside the house and may be inaccessible.
Electric kettles are a means of boiling water for hot drinks or cooking etc. The advantage electric kettles have over stove - top kettles is that they can be used wherever there is a power supply and not just in a kitchen. They may only require a small amount of water and can be boiled quickly.
Electric knives take the effort out of carving and slicing for people who have weak or painful hands. Electric knives need to be fitted together and plugged in, then taken apart for cleaning. These extra tasks need to be taken into account when assessing the labour saving benefits of an electric knife.
When choosing an electric toaster, consider the practical features of the toaster which simplify operation for a person with special needs.
Food processors are designed to do a number of tasks in the one unit; mix, blend, shred and chop. In addition some have options of kneading, citrus pressing and juice extraction. Blenders are designed to mix, blend and chop, and are suitable mainly for soft foods and liquids.
Hand held food processors are cylindrical appliances which have central shafts to which attachments are fitted. They often have a contoured handle and they are designed to be moved up and down and around the bowl during blending. Most hand held food processors are supplied with a stand, some have variable speeds and others have a small bowl for grinding and mincing.
Many items of clothing can be hung or folded in such a way that ironing may not be necessary. For those things that must be ironed there are irons with many & varied features. Ideally an iron should be reasonably light & comfortable to use, it should get wrinkles out of delicate and heavy duty fabrics, equally the soleplate should glide smoothly, be easy to clean & have button slots.
