Vehicle hoists are available to lift a person from a wheelchair to a passenger or driver seat. These are either externally or internally mounted and are available in two types of operation: - manual hydraulic, ie. uses a lever pump handle to operate or electric hydraulic, ie. uses a push button control box.
A roof mounted hydraulic hoist which enables an assistant to lift and transfer a person from a wheelchair to a car seat. It consists of a permanently mounted steel pack rack with housing for a sliding bar with capacity for forward / backward travel, a detachable hydraulic assembly which slides into the sliding bar and a padded sling seat.
An internally mounted, electrically operated car hoist designed to lift a person into the front seat of a vehicle (passenger side only). A bracket inside the car is permanently mounted and the boom and hoist mechanism are slotted into it for use. The hoist is powered by the car battery and operated by a remote control panel. The sideways movement into and out of the car doorway and pivoting movements are controlled manually. Can also be wall mounted for indoor use.
This lift has been designed for lifting people from their wheelchair into a car and out again. The mounting post can be fitted to enable the lift to be used on the passenger or drivers side. It can be operated by a helper or the user by use of a small control box on a flying lead. Once the person has been lifted, the horizontal movements into and out of the car are done manually.
