3 December 2010
International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) is a United Nations sanctioned day that aims to promote an understanding of people with disability, encouraging support for their dignity, rights and well-being.
It is a day of celebration, inclusion and participation; recognising the needs for people with a disability for active participation in all aspects of society.
Did you know that 1 in 5 people in Australia have a disability? That's 1.4 million people in NSW alone.
Take a minute now to reflect on how people with disabilities are included in all aspects of life - political, social, economic and cultural?
What can you do so people with disabilities are fully included in our community?
For more info, see www.idpwd.com.au
In NSW, IDPwD is celebrated throughout November and December with the Don’t DIS my ABILITY campaign.
