A Big Button remote control for use with TV, VCR or any other device operated via infrared signal. Has scanning ability. Can be programmed with up to 15 different infrared signals into the device.

More Details

Physical Description
* The Senior Pilot is a large remote control with 14 x 2cm square buttons
* An external switch can be connected via a 3.5mm plug socket
* Using the coloured labels on individual keys creates visual contrast with the base of the device, more so when the keys are illuminated
* The battery compartment is on the back or underside of the device
* The infrared transmitter is at one end of the controller and must be in the line of sight of the appliance to be operated

Special features
Access
* Individual keys on the device may be pressed to activate a function on an appliance once programming is complete
* Alternatively, activation of an external switch plugged into the switch port can operate the device
* Once the switch is pressed, the key pad starts scanning, illuminating one key at a time
* When the desired key is reached the switch may be pressed again to select that function
* The rectangular key on the face of the device may be also be used as a single switch to operate the Senior Pilot. Pressing the rectangular key (in single switch mode) starts the key pad scanning

Programming
* The keys on the key pad are used in programming appliances to be controlled, and the infrared transmitter window is used to learn functions from other remote controls
* The manual gives step by step instructions of the programming process
* To program the device, 3 keys must be held simultaneously to activate the learn mode, the single switch mode and the light key
* To program the infrared signals, the Senior Pilot and the remote control for the appliance must be activated with the infrared transmitter windows of each device pointing towards each other

Factors To Consider

* The key pad can be illuminated for 5, 10 or 15 seconds by pressing the rectangular key on the face of the Senior Pilot, allowing the device to be operated by people with some vision impairment, or in a darkened room
* Those with limited movement or strength may be able to activate the device using the rectangular key (in single switch mode), or an external switch plugged into the switch port at the side
* The tactile markers on each key surface may assist those with vision impairment to locate keys using touch

Installation

* The Senior Pilot requires programming and 4 AAA batteries installed to be operational
* A single switch may be plugged into the side for switch access to the key pad
