The Aged Care Assessment Teams National Register provides information on the location and functions of each ACAT. This register is distributed to all Assessment Teams, State Health Authorities and other key agencies involved in aged care.
This is a booklet put out by Active Australia and the NSW Sport & Recreation (DSR). It has handy hints and advice regarding exercise diet and staying healthy. It is available as a hard copy or online on the DSR website, or downloadable in pdf format .
A manual in A 4 format, researched and compiled by the Hostel and Care Program under the NSW Action Plan on Dementia. It presents a range of possible solutions to problems commonly faced by people with dementia living at home. The information is intended primarily for carers. It is also useful for dementia support workers, occupational therapists and staff of home maintenance and modifications schemes. Also available in audio form.
A 160 page soft cover page manual that has been developed to assist aged care facilities to provide adequate, safe, nutritious and enjoyable food as described by the " Standards and Guidelines for Residential Aged Care Services".
Caring for Somebody with Dementia is a 164 page paperback book written by Merideth Sindel who cared for her mother with dementia for three years. The book details the causes of dementia, mechanisms for dealing with symptoms and offers advice on personal care, frailty and the practicalities of caring.
Dementia Enabling Environments. Adapting Your Home: Supporting people in their home environment is a resource book which outlines the principles to be considered when adapting a home environment for a person living with dementia. It describes how environments can be set up to facilitate use and safety. Examples of assistive equipment which can be used in the house are given.
The DPS Guide to Aged Care is an innovative publication that comprehensively details every high level (nursing home) and low level (hostel) residential aged care facilities, Community Aged Care Package (CACP) and a broad range of other services and accommodation across each state. The information is also available on the internet.
Video exercise programs for older people. They can be purchased individually or used as part of an equipment and educational package including power point presentation for use with groups. One of the videos has exercises for people who are chair bound.
