Pragmatic Organisation Dynamic Display (PODD) Introductory Workshop 2013

This Two Day Introductory PODD Workshop, proudly presented by the Independent Living Centre NSW, will be of interest to anyone who is supporting communication for people requiring augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). PODD communication systems can assist people who have very little or no speech, including people with physical, sensory and cognitive challenges. The concepts support people using light tech, (non-electronic) and high tech methods of communication, although the workshop mainly focuses on light tech communication systems.
We are very pleased Gayle Porter, who developed this system and is from the Cerebral Palsy Education Centre in Victoria, will be presenting this workshop with Harriet Korner, ILCNSW.

Department of Health and Ageing - National Discussions

17 October 2013 - 18 November 2013

As part of the aged care reform, the Commonwealth Home Support Program will be introduced from 1 July 2015. This Program will bring together a range of existing services that provide basic home support, like the Commonwealth HACC Program. The Department is conducting national discussions as part of the Reviews of Community Transport, Home Mods and Home Maintenance in October and November 2013. Service providers and clients / carers / representatives who are interested in attending various discussions, please take note of the following dates and topics:

World Parkinson Congress

1 - 4 October 2013

The 3rd World Parkinson Congress, to be held from 1-4 October 2013 in Montreal at the convention center is a forum for bringing together the international community to help build awareness and increase collaborative efforts to find a cure for Parkinson’s.
Congress attendees will hear about cutting edge research and care models, network with the best researchers, clinicians, and most active PwP advocates all while raising awareness about Parkinson's and increasing the quality of life of people living with the condition.

7th International Convention on Rehabilitation Engineering & Assistive Technology
Learning, Living & Working with my Assistive & Rehabilitation Technology is the theme of i-CREATe 2013. It is organized concurrently with SENDEX 2013 - Korea’s biggest expo for seniors & people with disabilities. Focusing in Assistive, Rehabilitation & Therapeutic Technology, the convention aims to:
- promote novel scientific research
- develop regional networks
- support Person with Disability residing in Asia
