Volunteering NSW is the State peak body on volunteering, and is linked to the national body Volunteering Australia, more details on the website.
The Community and Disability Information Database covers Warringah and the Sydney area. Entries in the database provide contact details and descriptions of community services across metropolitan Sydney (and beyond). It identifies those organisations that service and support everyone in the community, including special groups such as older adults, people with a disability, youth and people of a multicultural background
The community living project provide an opportunity for adults with an intellectual disability to learn to live independently. Houses are rented in the eastern suburbs and accommodate 3-6 people with `drop-in' staff providing support training in all areas of independent living.
We Connect Now is a USA website dedicated to uniting people on issues which affect people with disabilities, with emphasis on college students, higher education and employment. The website has been used as a resource by institutions of higher learning and has been linked to by colleges and universities and groups serving people with disabilities in all USA states and at least 10 other countries.
Weka is New Zealand's disability information web site, for people with disabilities, their families, contacts and caregivers, health professionals and disability information providers. Weka is an abbreviation of "what everybody keeps asking" about disability information.
The National Welfare Rights Network (NWRN) is comprised of numerous community legal centres around Australia that specialise in Social Security law and related administration. This service includes a National Secretariat, 14 member centres and two affiliate members who operate around Australia. Opening hours may vary for each centre. Contact your local member centre for office opening hours and telephone advice hours.
The Business Services branch of the Westhaven Association is a supported employment service for people with intellectual disabilities who live in the Far West Local Health District of NSW. They assist local businesses by performing every day business tasks such as product packaging. They also produce sheepskin products.
Wheelchair Rugby League is a variation of Rugby League that allows athletes with disabilities to compete with and against able-bodied people. The sport is governed by the board of Wheelchair Rugby League Australia and is affiliated with the Australian Rugby League Commission (ARLC). To date, one competition exists in New South Wales (NSW WRL) based in the Sydney Metropolitan region.
